Why do you need a dental crown?

This is one dental trick that can correct all of your restorative and cosmetic dental problems. Here are a few issues that can be treated with a dental crown.

  • Dental crowns protect the tooth that has been weakened due to decay or fracture
  • Worn out teeth can be re-built using dental crowns
  • Dental crowns can hold the parts of a cracked tooth and prevent it from cleaving
  • After a root canal treatment or implant placement, crowns offer the final finishing touch
  • Misshaped, severely discolored teeth can be corrected cosmetically with a dental crown
  • If there is a gap between your front teeth, dental crowns can be placed to fix it and enhance the smile.

Benefits of Root Canal Treatment

Support a tooth that has been significantly damaged by decay

Treatment with dental crowns has a high success rate with respect to either other dental restoration methods or no treatment at all.

Hold a severely cracked or broken tooth together

The crown restores the tooth to its normal shape, size and function. The purpose of a crown is to make the tooth stronger or improve the way it looks.

Visually Appealing Result

Crowns not only function like natural teeth; they look great, too. Improve your smile.

Long Lasting

Dental crowns are a good long-term option because they are durable and usually last for at least 5-15 years.

We are saving a Natural Tooth

We can save your natural tooth only other option is to extract tooth.

FAQ

What is Dental Crown?
A. A dental crown is a tooth-shaped "cap" that is placed over a tooth -- covering the tooth to restore its shape and size, strength, and/or to improve its appearance. The crowns, when cemented into place, fully encase the entire visible portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line.
Do Dental Crowns Hurt?
A. Here ProSmile Family Dental, our dentists use modern anesthetics to minimize pain. After the procedure is finished, your gum may be slightly sensitive – we recommend using warm salt water to alleviate this.
What type of dental crowns are available?
  1. Metals The metallic color is the main drawback. Metal crowns are a good choice for out-of-sight molars.
  2. Porcelain-fused-to-metal sometimes the metal underlying the crown's porcelain can show through as a dark line, especially at the gum line and even more so if your gums recede. These crowns can be a good choice for front or back teeth.
  3. All-ceramic or all-porcelain dental crowns provide the best natural color match than any other crown type.
How long dental crown lasts?
A. On average, dental crowns last between 5 and 15 years. The life span of a crown depends on the amount of "wear and tear" the crown is exposed to, how well you follow good oral hygiene practices, and your personal mouth-related habits (you should avoid such habits as grinding or clenching your teeth, chewing ice, biting your fingernails and using your teeth to open packaging).
Does crowned tooth requires special care?
A. While a crowned tooth does not require any special care, remember that simply because a tooth is crowned does not mean the underlying tooth is protected from decay or gum disease. Therefore, continue to follow good oral hygiene practices, including brushing your teeth at least twice a day and flossing once a day-especially around the crown area where the gum meets the tooth.
